In June of 1997, a decision was made by Ryan to pursue the State's first design/build project for the Department of Revenue. It had an extremely aggressive time schedule and a substantial penalty if the project was not completed on time. We teamed up with Hammel Green and Abrahamson who was an excellent design partner. Still, at first glance, the sheer scope of this project made it seem impossible. We knew the only way to meet this challenge with any comfort at all was to select the best suppliers and subcontractors in the area. When we stepped up to the table to a $6,500,000 penalty, we knew that a large part of our commitment would be based on the performance of Viking Automatic Sprinkler.

John, as you know, the rest is history. Viking Automatic Sprinkler did an excellent job at meeting and exceeding their commitments. Together we turned over a highly successful project that was completed early. All of our team can look back with a real sense of pride in what was accomplished. Elaine Hansen, Commissioner for the Department of Administration, and Tom Ulness, Assistant Commissioner, have billed this as the miracle on Robert Street.
