Tips for a Safe and Spooky Halloween

Tips for a Safe and Spooky Halloween
October 20, 2017 -

Of course, everyone loves a good scare on Halloween...but not when it comes to fire safety.

With less than a couple weeks left until the festivities begin, your friends at Viking Automatic Sprinkler Co. are here to provide you with safety tips to keep in mind to keep your little monsters safe!

  • Most importantly, when buying your children their costume and accessories, make sure to look for ones labeled "flame resistant." Also, stay away from long, trailing fabric.

  • If your child's costume includes a mask, make sure the eye holes are big enough for them to see clearly. Also, provide them with flashlights to carry so they have clear visibility when it gets dark.

  • As we learned last week during #FirePreventionWeek, look for two ways out! If you are attending a Halloween party or get-together, look around the room and make sure you know two fire escape routes.

  • Be cautious of flammable decorations or candles. As an alternative, consider using battery-operated candles or even glow sticks! If you must use real candles, always have an eye on them and make sure kids don't get too close.

We want to see your most creative costumes! Send us photos of you or a family member and you may be featured on our Twitter @VikingAutomatic or on our Facebook page.
