Foam & Chemical Fire Suppression Systems

Foam and chemical fire suppression systems are used to cool the fire and coat the fuel that the fire is consuming to prevent contact with oxygen and reduce combustion ability. Different varieties of foams and chemicals are used for different fire sprinkler applications, so the system should be tailored to the exact needs of the facility the system is being installed in. The foaming solutions or chemicals are delivered rapidly through fixed pipes and dispersed through open nozzles activated by an automatic detection system.

The foam dispersed by the fire suppression system separates the fuel from the air in several different ways. The foam blankets the surface of the fuel effectively smothering the fire. The water content of the foam cools the fuel significantly and the blanket of foam over the fuel suppresses the release of flammable vapors that could ignite in the air. Attacking the fire on these three fronts is an extremely effective method of fire suppression.

Foam and Chemical Suppression Systems Are Used in:

  • Flammable Liquid Storage
  • Loading Racks
  • Processing Areas
  • Refineries
  • Dike Areas
  • Aircraft Hangars
  • Heliports
  • Jet Engine Test Facilities
  • LNG Storage/Manufacturing
  • Marine Applications
  • Warehouses
